About me…

My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2020. As I watched her disease progress, I began to realize that the facts and truths of her world were no longer the same as mine. The more I tried to force her back to the present day, the harder and more difficult our relationship became. So I tried lying. And our relationship and interactions improved…significantly.

The blog is my story of the journey with my mom. It’s a way of processing my emotions and honoring her role as a mother. It is also about empathic attunement when caregiving for loved ones with dementia.

My parents moved into an apartment we built in the basement in September 2021 so I could provide support and caregive for her. Our goal is for her to live her final years at home. I understand that the road ahead will be difficult and that success may not be guaranteed. Only time will tell.
